  1. I think we need to educate people on eating the right food. Encourage people to excersize and to have a volunteer buddy system to offer support and encouragement.

  2. i think we need to all be aware of what junk food we are consuming. limit the amount of take aways we purchase per week and we also need to make sure we regularly exercise and stay fit. I also think families should be able to purchase milk alot cheaper. Because it is so dare, families are purchasing too many sugar filled drinks as these are much cheaper, but very fattening.

  4. I believe obesity is caused by too much sugar in our diet. 100 years ago, people didn't eat much sugar and one in 25 people were obese in USA. Today one in three people are obese, and in NZ, one in five.

The average person is now consuming about 60kg of sugar per year, and 35% of that sugar is consumed from drinks like Coke and Pepsi, and fruit drinks.

Such an excess of sugar is stored as fat in our bodies and this leads to heart disease, diabetes, strokes and even cancers.

Just knowing this has made me think more carefully about what I eat. I believe that schools from all over New Zealand should be educated about how too much sugar can affect your health later on in life.

  5. i think we should do at least 30min of exercise every day. eat more healthy food and less lollies or other stuff that has lots of added sugar or fat. I think we should lower the prices for healthy food and make the more sugary or the fat ones higher in the price.

  6. I think we should teach students all over new zealand about what food we should eat more of and what we should eat less of. And i agree with lara and rose that we should lower the price for the healthy foods and icrease the price for junk foods and fatty foods. We should also watch how much junk food we are consuming so we can make it less. Also do 30 minutes a day of exercise so we stay fit and healthy. And we should eat 5+ a day.

  7. I think we should have a program at school to keep fit. Like how we had Heart Jam for that heart-thing.
It could be like a little program about 5-10minutes long that would be a bit tiring, so people could stay fit.
We should also try to eat more healthy foods everyday, for lunch and stuff, not just chips and bars.

  8. I think we should really watch the junk food we eat like !LARA! said. Because most of the people you know buy or eat junk food everyday or every week so thats costing money just to eat JUNK! like if your not feeling like fit because of the junk your eat well you should do fitness and stuff. And like eat healther to benner fit others.

  9. I think that fast food restaurants should stop thinking about the money and start thinking about people's health. They should advertise healthy food choices, more than they advertise fatty food choices.Instead of putting a toy in a happy meal, Mcdonalds should put the toys in a healthy fruit or salad and roll option. So that kids stop choosing the fatty fries and chicken nuggets.

Getting people ( or yourself ) to be more physically active is easier said than done. There needs to be heaps of support for people who are trying to loose weight. There needs to be lots of enthusiasem.

Every school canteen should sell healthy food choices. Like sandwiches, salads, fruit, etc. I'm not saying nobody should eat any sugar. Because it is ok to treat yourself with yummy things every now and again. Just not all the time.

I think that parents should be given lots of healthy food ideas to feed there kids. So that not so many children get obese.

  11. School canteens and supermarkets etc. should all support 5+ a day by having posters around the supermarket and school. People also need to remember to Push Play. Which is 30min of exercise each day :) Also most fast food places have healthy options and it is your choice to eat healthy!

  13. Drink water and milk! not fizzy drinks! We should cut down on eating takeaways. Have them as treats not whenever we want to. Getting physical like jogs and sports. Plus eating 5+ a day (veges and fruit)

  14. I think we should be eating healthier and drinking more water. I don't understand why people don't- it's not like it costs anything. We should also be exercising more.

  15. I think we should cut down all the junk food that we buy when we go shopping, buy more apples oranges and bananas instead of chips and chocloate even if we LOVE them, we should do more games at school because they are fun and you get lots of exercise..... remember an apple a day keeps the doctor away!!!! and 5+ LOL

  16. i think that we should have more veges in stores and fruit and we shouldn't have as many junk food sjops it may be nice every once in a while but some people eat it like we should dom with fruit and vege...I think its silly any way to eat junk like that any way.

  17. they need to change their eating habits by making healthy food cheaper or junk food more expensive so that the people are more likely to buy the cheaper food. And make the advertisement of exercise greater. and at takeaways have more food that's healthy

  18. its simple, all we need to do is stop advertising fast food resteraunts like kfc burger king and other things. the average person watches 3 hours of t.v a day. if you think that there is and add break every 15 minutes that means that means nearly 15 add breaks and that. that makes it possible to show at least 10 advertisments about fatey foods. we need to stop blaming other people for nz and other countries weight problems and start looking at our selfs, it's our fault we are like this and no one elses. so stop advertising fatey things and start advertising healthy things like fruit and vegies.

  22. i think the biggest avitisment of fatty foods is through t.v which is what a majority of us do often if broadcasters didnt allow these to air so regularly maybe this would cut down the cravings or not want these unhealthy foods??????

  23. i think that if places like macdonalds should not be allowed to advertise so often this would stop people knowing about Eg:a new burger or drink whick will cut down on obesedy
