I think that we could have laptop for each student from year 7/8 up as younger people need to learn how to write neatly and correctly where as a year 7 or 8 has already done most of that sort of stuff. You could still have your exercise books so you can do your drafts and you could publish on the laptop. With mathematics I recon you should do it in your book so you'd know how to do things to do with maths on paper, and you could easily learn how to do graphs on the laptop. I think that the M.O.E. should provide us with laptops, but we shouldn't be on them 24/7 because that's stupid. I think that we can still write in exercise books so we can keep our writing skills up to standard!
i think we should get laptops because some people over nz only have enough money to buy food etc every week and yet alone they have to spend like a couple hundred dollars just for one what about two thats about 400 dollars and yet they have school fees and school trips and more and some people dont have that ammount of money and some people work better using a laptop but only year 7 and 8s should be aloud to have a laptop because of course we need to know how to write and and spell .defentely dont let the year 1 and 2's get the computer because they will probably draw all over the screens.
i think that every student should be given a laptop for certain subjects, like writing or reading. but for subjects like maths and science books would usually be the bes choice. so i am sort of sitting on the fence on this one
and adding on to my first coment i think that only year 7's and up should get laptops because we have earned it and younger children will probably break theres
Joe, hai. Laptops aren't 400 dollars. I think that you people are just greedy & want free laptops. You dont need them, if you need laptops at school use the school ones.
I think we should have a laptop each. So we could have a better chance of studing and have a computer when we need it. Unfortunatly it comes with a down side like unsocializing we need to talk to people everyday but if we all had a laptop no-one would want to chat. Georgie
I think we should have laptops because it really helps with your learning by being able to study whenever you need to or want to. I don't think in primary school you need a laptop but in high school or above it would be really handy. Also if the school has laptops and you have a computer at home all you really need Is a pendrive and not a laptop. Just imagine how much it would cost the ministry of education. By Felicity
I not sure about this one... year 1 to year 8 Should learn how to have nice hand writing and stuff, so that they don't have to rely on computers. But at highschool, it would be good to be able to do work at school and then bring the laptop home and finsih your work off. It might be a time saver ( depends on how fast you can type ). And like Felicity said, Imagine how much it would cost! Could the money be put to better use?
i dont think it is necessary because it seems a a huge amount of money to spend on technology for kids. most families own 1-2 computers in their homes. There could also be some children that abuse the use of having their own laptop at school and there also high cossts involed into fixing them.
I think that laptops should only be given to year 7/8 beacause the years younger will have no use for them as at school they have limited laptops witch means you have to wait to get a turn on the laptops and some kids that can be easily distracted and start to play on the internet and another bad thing is that the internet costs will be more expensive.
I dont think we should because the school already has laptops and we dont all use them at the same time so it woud be unnecassary to get 30. And it wouldnt be cheap. There is also lots of other ways to study and write things down. And like felicity said if you have a computer at your house all you need is a pendrive so you can put it on the school computers and that would be much cheaper. FROM SARAH ILLINGWORTH!!!
Q1 : Yes i think they should because its better for a student to have there own stuff and be able to know that they dont have to share and it would be a great oppertunity sor students to have a chance to have there own computers.
Q2 : I think it would be something to look forward to at school and would be way better than having like 10 books just sitting there and having a computer would give us a wider range of things to do and things to think about! :P
I dont think we dhould have computer's for evryone in the class. just for kids. Because it's just ganna cost lots of money, and if u break it u will have to pay for a new one. like nearly or most of the kids have computers at home that they can us.
I think that it is a waste of money buying laptops for every one when the money could be put to better use. You don't really need them anyway, we're just fine using books. But I can see the plus side to having laptops at high-school, it would prevent having to carry around all the differnt books when you don't have anywhere to put them, and like Erin said most people have computers at home that they can use to publish. -Lucy.
i think we just need these for certain subjects so that would mean no but then for homwork and stuff they would be sooo helpful and coz there wireless and not big bulky desktops they would be evn less hassel as you wouldnt have to worry about taking up so much room but wouldnt it be reaaalllly expensive?
I think that computors are vital in schooling today. If the school did'nt have any computers then how would we publish our school work or look up things for a school progect and it also improve youe school work. normal work is lame but computer work is more fun so more motivating witch = the child is more likey to do better than worse
I think we should have computers for writing subjects and things like that. it would be expensive but they would be helpfull. i think people would get there work done quicker because they want to use the computer, you wont have to have alot of books and it would be easier.
I think that if we were going to get laptops then yr 7s and up should have them since they would have more respect for the computers. But i dont think that we should have them because schools do fine with the ones they have and it would be a waste of money to buy everyone one By Rhys
i think public schools should not have laptops but private should because you have to pay more money. for most subjects laptops would not be much use but for writing they would and if students want a laptop for writing they can bring one or use a school one. by fergus
i think that they should not do that because it will cost allot of money and if some one brakes one then they womt have a computer and every one else will so they might feel left out or maby they wont be able to finish there work the same as every one else so they might get marked down even though its thier fult for droping the computer
i dont think that it would improve our learning because we wouldnt learn the skills of looking up words in a dictionary or looking in an atlas because we would just be sitting there on our computers hurting our eyes by Rhys
No it wouldn't make us learn better because, we could spend the money on other things such as sports equipment, dictionaries, books, and other useful stuff and kids are spending to much time on the computer and very little outside. also people need to practice their hand-writing. Also the computers will definitely get broken or lost a one stage which means more money has to be spent to buy a new one. but i do think that schools should have at least 10 computers but not one each :)
Im sitting on the fence because some people might not have internet so they can not do research for school or do there blog. and it would be handy to be able to take home something you are publeshing on a school laptop. and some people might use them to play games and such. and parents would have to pay if it brakes. and children will slowly lose there eye sight from looking too much at acomputer.
It would be useful to have your own school laptop because every one would have instead of waiting for someone else to get off their one. But it would be an option be cause some people might not be able to afford them or wanted to spend money on something else.
I don't think we should be provided laptops from the M.O.E because that money could be put to better use of things like sports equiptment, also some people might not have the money to by laptops and its esier to just use exercise books. aroha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p
