I went to the Memorial in Hagley Park with my dad and some family friends. Then we went to Hamilton to spend time with family and for someones 101th. It was important to me because I live in Christchurch and I experienced the earthquake an that will be a memory for me.
My Mum, Becky and i went to the Memorial Service in Christchurch. We took the bus from the Rangiora Show Grounds into Christchurch. At the bus stop there was a man whose house was cordoned off and he had lost his dog from a falling brick. He was heading to Whiterock for the day to get away from the damadge. At Hagley park we sat at the back under the trees. I sat up the tree to watch because there were heaps of people in front of us. In the end we moved to a much better place closer to the screens. It went on for ages...
Well I went to Kerrin's house and we played outside for a little while and then we went in side and had lunch. then we asked if we could go for a swim but kerrins dad had jobs to do o he took us later. when we got back from the swimming pool we just played outside again. then i stayed there for tea. not meaning to put anyone down but the day didnt really mean anything but an extra day of weekend. But my thoughts are still out there to everyone who lost loved ones. Ashleigh.
On the Memorial Day my family and I travelled down to Dunedin and stayed in my Dad’s tiny one bedroom flat. We spent the day going to the Chocolate Factory, which was really neat because we learnt so much and we got so much chocolate because we were from Christchurch. The rest of the day we spent in a park having a picnic and playing touch together. After that we went shopping and got lots of really cool stuff. The day was special to me because it meant I got to spend time with my family which I like doing.
In the week end my family didn’t spend time together because my parents went to Kiakora, instead I spent Friday with Yana. We didn’t do any thing but watch TV, call friends and cook, for us it was just a laid back day. I think the memorial day was a good idea, because it was a great way for people to relax and have a break for the earthquake chaos. For me it didn’t really mean any thing because I wasn’t really affected by the earthquake so I didn’t think I needed the day off although I did think about the people died once or twice during the day.
On memorial day i wathed about 10 minutes on mormoial day on T.V, Ben was at my house but we were pretty much oblivious to it all. We did the two minute silence and then we went away. The day did not realy mean much to me at all but i still contributed in the two minute silence to all that have been affected by the quake or even lost there life or a loved one who lost there life. But christchurch still stood tall even in the darkest times.
On the memorial day ashligh came round and we played outside. Then after lunch we washed my dads motarbike wheels so we could go to the pool. After we had been to the pool we played at my house some more and then we went to ashleighs house and watched videos of her when she was little. Then we came back to get ashleighs togs and my mum invited her to stay for tea. The day wasnt really important to me, and all it meant was an extra holiday but i still thought about the earthquake and the people that have lost thier homes or thier family. My mum had to go to work on that day.
on the day ofn the memorial we went to twizel it took four hours and we almost ran out of fuel the orange light was on and we still had 15 kays to go ones we got there packed for the lake but it started raining soon as i walked out the door we payed the two minuites silence while we were on the lake the next day i liked the memorial and i think we should do it every week!!!!!!!!!!!
On the memorial day i watched the first five minutes of the memorial service but got bored so i just watched other programs on TV and went on youtube(i looked up very educational stuff). To me the day was a just an extra day off school, but i was still thinking of the people that lost their homes, lives and loved ones.
On the memorial day I was collecting the hedge cuttings . I was driving the tractor. I nearly crashed into a fence and drove straight into the bonfire. I was watching a bit of the memorial here and there but to me it was just another day off school. I Feel sorry for the people who lost their lives and possessions in the earthquake. I hope everything gets back to normal again!
On the Memorial Day I was collecting pinecones, I watched a bit of the memorial and did 2 minutes of silence. To me the day was not any more special than an ordinary day, but I do feel for the people who lost their loved ones.
Memorial day... I think it was an emotional day for every invdividual envolved in the CH.CH earthquake i spent my time with my family and watched part of the memorial service i also took part in a 2minutes silence to pay my repects to those that had their life taken by this tradegy. Kia Kaha Christchurch!!!
On the memorial day my mum and I watched the memorial service on TV at home and I participated in the two minutes silence! It was a little bit special to me because i felt sorry for the lives, houses and belongings lost in the national disaster!
On the memorial day i went to brads house and we watched the first 10 minutes of the memrial and did the 2 minutes silence. It didn't mean very much to me but it's sad for all the people who lost their friends and family or if they lost their home.
On the memorial day my family and I watched the memorial service and did a two minute silence to remember the people who lost their loved ones and those whose lives have changed forever. We also lit a candle to remember those who have died.
For the Memorial Day on Friday, my parents and I watched the service on the TV. We thought it was important to have a look to pay tribute to the people who lost their lives in the quake and for those search and rescue teams, and the police, fire, medic staff and all the helpers like the Student Army and the Farmy Army. At 12.51 our family had two minutes silence in the house. Throughout the rest of the weekend and since the earthquake, we are grateful to have not lost anyone in our family or anyone we know. I thought the day was a bit special because you live so close to Christchurch so you can feel the heart ache. Like Prince William and other speakers on the memorial, Be Strong Christchurch. Kia Kaha!
I I went to Harry’s house to stay for the weekend, we play Xbox, and we watch a little bit of the memorial bit we got bored of the people talking. I think the day was a day rest and to relax after the earthquake.:):)
On the memorial day Shannon came over because her perents where going away. We did not do much but we made bannana fritters and we called lots of friends. We where going to have a family trip over Lees Valley on our motor bikes but my Mum flew to Auckland because my sister was having her baby. Lucas Cole Evans finally arrived on Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 he weighed just on 9 pounds and he loves to suck his thumb. The memorial day was special to me because of all the people who lost their houses, family members or friends. It makes you feel so helpless and unaffected.
On Friday the 18th of March, my family and I watched the Memorial Service on t.v. for the earthquake disaster. We took part in a two minute silence to have our own thoughts for those who lost their lives in this tragedy. We have been extremely lucky and very thankful that we still have our lives and each other. I felt this was an important day and one to remember. It will be our memory and history for years to come.
On the memorial day i got Cam over and we watched some of the memorial then we did the two minute silence .My thoughts were with to ones who had lost friends or family .I spent some time with my dad then he took me and Cam to the movies and we watched the movie Rango. Watching all of the destruction on T.V makes you want to help a lot which doesn't help because everything is useless because everything is blocked off .It was good that Prince William visited because i think that he raised ChrisChurch's moral.
On the christchurch memorial day I watched some of the memorial on tv with my family and my nana. I think it was a good way to give a tribute to the lives lost. The day was special to me because it meant I could spend time with my family at tough times, although of my family is safe. My sister went to the memorial service with some of her friends. She thought it was a good opportunity for people to go and say a final goodbye.Prince William was really nice to everybody. Rose
on the memorial day i didn't take verry much notice of it and we went camping and made some weapons. me and my bro and sis went swiming i lake ianthe and lake maporika. in lake ianthe there was a warf that was under water and we were jumping off it. and we went to franz josiph glacia.
the memorial day didn't mean much to me. we went in to christchurch and played canoe polo for most of the day when we got back i watched the ceremony on t.v. but it got very boring. it was good to see lots of people help to clean up after the devastating quake and prepare meals for people even some people donated money to the red cross foudation. i feel sorry for the familys that have lost other family members and possessions from the quake on my b-day [22nd feb]
i went to the service with mu8m and my grandparents i went because i wanted to see prince william and because i thought5 nit would be something that i would remember4 for the rest of my life jason kerrison, hayley westenra, john key, bo0b parker and julia guillard were all there
