Should Casey Heynes the teenager who strikes back at the bully have been suspended from school? Why/ Why not. What message has this incident sent to children?
Q1: Casey Heynes should not have been suspended because all he was doing was standing up for himself he isn't expected just to stand there take all the punches and tell a teacher that does nothing about it. Q2: The message that was sent to children was that if you were picked on and beaten up for life give the person a taste of their own medicine.
I am sitting on the fence with this one - Yes because it gives them time to re~think their actions and also gives time for them to calm down and maybe decide whether they are going to go back to that school or choose a different school. But no because richard deserved what happened to him even if he was the one who was getting bullied in the first place. It gives a message that students should never pick on people bigger them, but also says that you should be careful about who you pick on and don't let it get to you and if it gets to bad then tell some one.
woops read the question wrong. i am stuck on the fence. casey should have been suspended because it gives him time to re~think is actions and give him time to think about whether he wants to go back the same school or not. But no because richard deserved what happened to him even if he was the one who was gettin bullied in the first place
It gives the message to students that they shouldnt pick on some one bigger then them self otherwise they could get a taste of their own medican and tell them to be careful who they pick on.
he shlouldn't be suspendid because he was only sticing up for him self witch is not a bad thing it is a very good it means that if he had to say what he feels like when he gets picked on.I don't like geting picked on so i now what it feels like and i realy want to through them to the ground but i don't.
i think that they should have suspended him for a week and given his parents some work to do for a while that would have challenged him and for his mum to keep the work supply going... i think richard should have got suspended to... i think it has sent a good message to people for people to stop bulling. but i think it has also sent a bad message to people to beat up people that talk badly to them. i mean i know how he feels cuase i get teased and bullied a lot to...:(:(:(:(
I agree with anonymous=i think that they should have suspended him for a week and given his parents some work to do for a while that would have challenged him and for his mum to keep the work supply going... i think richard should have got suspended to... i think it has sent a good message to people for people to stop bulling. BROOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i think it has also sent a bad message to people to beat up people that talk badly to them.
Right, My opinion... I think after many years? was it? of being tormented by this scrap of a kid was mean and a very strong case of bullying. I am on Casey's side because i think a retaliation from him only happened once and i think that after years of the kid bullying him he finally snapped. But i think pherhaps the small kid should have been suspended longer than Casey. That is my opinion =D
I think that casey did the right thing it wasn't like he was going to sit the bully down and give him an eye message, i don't like it when you hit me in the face it makes me feel sad... he said it had been going on for a long time so teachers obviously weren't dealing with it and if casey it had hit him it would have probably gotten even worse. as for the suspention i think it was a good thing for the boys to have some time away from each other maybe they should have suspended richard for a bit longer so casey could settle back in. i think it was a good influence because it might have made bullied children ask for help and it was a great wake up call for teachers

I think that casey and the bully guy should have been suspended for a few days to think about what they did and then be aloud back into school and have to sort out there problems. The school should have dealt with it earlier. Q\2 the message sent was to not be messed with
casey hanes should not have been stod down from high school. why i think that is because i get bulleid alot and when they dont stop it really gets on your neves. the anger that gets built up can come out at any moment when your being bullied because it dose hurt when you get punched and even when you get teased for silly things like fatty or girly but when you put up with it for all your life it dose get to much
I reckon Casey should be suspended from school for a short time but i am on casey's side because he had been teased for some years by kids and he had had enough of it. i reckon the other kid should have to be suspended for longer because he was the one that was teasing casey. casey only did that to stop the 'fight'. im not sure what really happened?????
i think that casy should not be suspended at all because casy was using purlly self defence and as u can see in the photo the other kid punched him first but on cambell live the other kid stated that casy offended him first by calling him names so therefore i think that casy should not suspended be cause casy is a litile bit overweight BY TOM
In my opinuion Casey did the write thing because he showed the bully that he can fight back, he just has been choosing not to and he showed the bully how he feels. If he went to a teacher they woud not be able to stop them or watch them every moment of the day and the bully would just do it after school or somewere else. I think it sends a mesage saying stand up for your self and dont let them keep doing it.
I think that Casey should of done what he did, because it shows the bully that he can stick up for him self. Now the bully won't pick a fight with him again. So he shouldn't of been suspended from school. The message that it has sent to children is to stand up for yourself. Even though he has been suspended in the end he will be better off, by not being bossed around.
I think the same as Yana, I think that he showed the bully that he can fight back. I also think that he won’t be bossed around anymore by anyone hopefully. I think that he SHOULD'VE been suspended because he could've got the little guy in a wheelchair with how hard he slammed him on the ground. But I also think that he SHOULDN'T have gotten suspended because he was just standing up for himself and they should've at least given him a warning, or the school should've let his parents know what he had done and his parents could've did something with him.
I don’t think Casey should of been suspended because what would you do if a guy half your size had teased and bullied you for most of your life. You would be miserable and want to give them back a bit of what they did to you. I think Richard should have got suspended and Casey could have just got a warning. I think now everyone will want to fight back which will scare off the bully a little bit but the people that are getting bullied will be to scared to ever do it in case the bully gets revenge.
I am sitting on the fence. Yes he should have got suspended because it was a bit of an over dramitisation. He also needed some time to cool off and think about his actions. No because he was only fighting back, because how much beating can one person actually take until he reacts. No body on the sideline was doing anythings to break this fight up or stop it from happening in the first place. The other interesting thing was that it must have been planned because their were people standing there and filming the fight.
I do believe that Heynes should have been suspended because violence is not the answer no matter what the cause is. Yet he should not have been bullied in the first place and it should have been stopped long before this happened. Heynes had probably had enough of being bullied and fought back with unspeakable violence yet as I said before violence is not the answer and it shouldn’t have happened. But Heynes showed everyone how he is not weak and how he is capable of hurting others and making them upset. He now has the respect he probably wanted but in a negative form.
The message this incident has sent to students has been a mixture of both good and bad. The good part of it is that children now know that if you bully others you face the consequences of it going over board or of you getting in trouble. The bad part of it is that children who are being bullied believe that if you fight back with violence it will sort all your problems and incidents like this will be happening a lot more often.
Well, I think that Casey Heynes SHOULD have been suspended because the time he takes out of school, he can think about his actions, and his parents can sort out an alternative school if necessary. What he did was nearly the same as what Ritchard Gale was doing apart from what Casey did, did a bit more damage. He was tormented all his life and so it is a bit fair that he gets suspended otherwise other students around the world would think a wrestling move is alright to proceed in school. I think that he SHOULDN’T have been suspended because he did not start the fight and what he did was an act of self defence and he purely wanted that Ritchard would stop what he was doing. Ritchard is sorry and started crying during an interview but he still did what he did and he deserves a more severe punishment than Casey. My opinion would be that Casey should have got suspended to rethink his behaviour but he doesn’t deserve a harsher penalty.
The message that this has sent to other pupils is that if someone has been bullying you for your whole life that if you want to stop this once and for all, he have to fight back in self defence. There are a lot of students that are in the same situation as Casey was in and they might get some inspiration.
I am sitting on the fence because Casey should have not fought back following the school rules, he also used violence as his last resort that is not ok in any situation. But I understand the fact of Casey being tormented by the younger student who had been allowed to get away with too much for to long. I am also surprised that the teachers did not solve the problem until it was too late.
I am sitting on the fence because Casey was setting a bad example and if he got suspended he could think about his actions that he took and make his parents more aware of the situation.
But then all his years being at school he was bullied and tortured. On that day he snapped and decided to stand up for himself.Just imagine waking up everyday knowing that you are going to school where you will get bullied and tortured all day.
I am sitting on the fence!! Both of the boys at one time or another played a part in this situation. The boys being a year 7 and year 10 should have known better than to of been fighting infront of other children. It simply sets a bad standard of behaviour for other students. On the other hand picking on someone twice your size is not a good idea. So Casey obviously got pushed tooooo far and snapped. He only retalliated once after many rounds of bullying so he just got sick of putting up with it, and fought back once. Rose.
I think he should be suspendid for fighting. Both boys shouldnt have started a fight in the first place and being a year 7 and 10 they should know better. I think that even if he was using self defence it is still fighting and against the school rules. I am surprised that the teachers didnt sort it out sooner.
It shows all school children that fighting always ends badly and that if you break the rules you'll have to make up for it sooner or later.
I do think Casey should have been suspended because he was violent and very lucky the other boy only got a graze instead of breaking some of his bones and now other children that are being bullied might start doing what he did but end up with a far worse out come. But I also think he should have because was just sick of getting hit and teased by this other boy for his whole school life and was just standing up to his bully.
I think Casey shouldn’t have been suspended be cause on the interview he said that he had been bullied all his life, so I think that he stood up for himself. I think he didn’t take it to far because now no one will try to mess with him because they now what he can do. The kid that was bulling him should not be suspended he should be expelled.
I think that Casey should not be suspended because he was only standing up for him self and now the other kid knows how Casey feels when he is bulled .If Casey got suspended then he wont find out how to deal with these situations because he cant hurt every one that bullys him .Also he would miss out on school work just because he was standing up for him self .I think the message is that children should stand up for them self .

Ad to not let yourself be bullied and if you are bullied tell a teacher and if the teachers do not do anything then fight back.
