The KFC double down burger has caused a stir in the media. It is considered to be one of the most unhealthy foods on offer at fast food restaurants. The media gave so much coverage to the new bunless burger that stores were swamped last week to buy the double down. The heart attack grill in the US serves a quadruple bypass burger that contains an estimated 8000 calories and people weighing over 350 pounds eat for free.

Should there be limits on high calorie/ fat foods in New Zealand? Should it be illegal to advertise such foods? Or do you think that the responsibility for what people eat is up to the individual.

  1. I reckon a burger that fatty should NOT be allowed in NZ. obese people get to eat free at the heart attack grill (in America) and that means they can go there any time the like (and put on 8000 calories) and it won't cost anything. Advertising and the burgers themselves should be illegal because it would probably make alot more people obese in NZ.the advertising is really weird and i dont know why anyone would be attracted to that sort of thing.

I think there should be a limit to the amount of fatty food that comes into New Zealand because if New Zealand gets known for people who eat a lot of junk food then the owner of the hard attack grill might decide to start a franchise in new Zealand. I also that the double down burger should not come in to New Zealand because it will discourage people from eating healthier food options.

  7. I think that selling or advertising foods that are that fatty should be illegal.
New zealand is a healthy beautiful country, if so many more people sell high calorie food new zealand would lose health and would become a fatty greasy country instead.
If the govnerment do not make it illegal then the only other way is to stop buying t, they won't sell it if no one will buy it.
When you buy a double down all you are really buying is some chicken some cheese and some sauce.
I dont know why people would go eat stuff like that, fatty greasy.
    Heart Attack Grill is stupid!
Why serve a way over weight person food for free, all day every day!

  9. Yes, I do think New Zealand needs a limit on the unhealthy foods the fast foods industry is serving to the public. And think it should be illegal to advertise such unhealthy foods that could potentially kill the consumers of such a fatty food. But any person, who is dumb enough to eat food like the burgers at the heart attack grill, deserves to have a heart attack, because a self-respecting person should be totally against eating a high calorie meal.
Because just watching the heart attack grill video made me sick.

  10. i think the food industry should do something about it kfc should be shut down if it is only going to be a food hazard they should put more salad in their burgers what is the use in having to pay over $15 for a stupid burger and its going to KILL you why buy it

  11. This burger is gross! And advertising this burger is even worse!
We should be encouraging healthy living NOT giving away free burgers to obese people who are over three hundred and fifty pounds.
There are plenty of obese people in the world and if they suddenly see a sign or commercial saying ‘FREE FOOD FOR PEOPLE OVER 350 POUNDS!’ they will come running (or should I saying dawdling as they probably can’t run). They will dine there every day, they will put on eight thousand calories per meal and their vital organs would gradually fail, as they die an early yet expected death.

I believe that there should be calorie limits in fast food in NZ as fast food is taking over the healthy options of food and the food is getting more fattening with every year.
It also should be illegal to advertise such food in such a horrific manor because it is literally a life and death matter if you constantly eat like that.
I think that it is up to the person their self to decide what they are going to eat but with someone egging them on it is hard to resist. It is like peer pressure, with someone practically telling you what to do you are most likely going to do it.

As I said at the start, this burger is gross! And advertising this burger is even worse!
So don’t fall for the falsehood and stick to the healthy option!

  13. i think that there should be limits on the high calorie foods and fatty foods in new zealand.
yes it should be illegal to advertise such fatty foods in new zealands because new zealand is a nice country and there is no needs for fatty foods here. It is a big life and death matter with such high calorie and fat foods , not just here but in other countrys aswell.

The choice of what a person eats is completely up to them but there should not be any more fast, fat and high calorie foods be coming into new zealand.
we already have a horrendous amount here and beccause they taste so good people go to them.
not being mean to mc donalds but in one of their big mac burgers on the box the fat total per serve is about 21 that iss disgusting.
    obesity is disgusting.

  14. i think that there should be a limit on how much advertizing on fatty foods there r because there r a huge amount of overweight people in nz and it is adsolutly ridiculous that the heart atack grill will serve any one that is over 350 pounds bu tthe only good thing is that they r in nurse costume ready for them to pass out eating a quadruple bypass burger but it is more liike a quadruple passout burger

  15. The sickest burger ever! No bread, what, that is just wrong. It is not right to have it free for 350 pound people or over, it is like they are actually trying to kill the people that eat these fatty burgers.
I firmly believe that in New Zealand there should be a limit on the high calorie and fatty foods. This is obviously a food that they are trying to tempt you with, not only to eat your food but to get them into their shop (KFC). Advertising these sort of foods should be illegal - they sell this food to kill you.
If they do keep advertising these foods it is up to the individual. These sort of fatty foods should only be eaten as a treat not an everyday meal.Double down = fatty, fatty and even more fatty.

I think the double down burger should be allowed but that really tall fat burger should be a discrase to the world and encouraging the obesse people to eat fat burgers for free is not going to improve their health. They should be able to advertise for it though because its one way of making money. But the heart attack grill..... Lets just say its name speaks for itself.

  18. Of course there should be limits on high calorie / fat foods in New Zealand. New Zealand is pretty much promoted as a healthy place to live, but when you see this double down burger hitting our shores, we should think twice. Most of these people though who take this burger are probably overweight and have nothing better to do than dig their own grave. This burger, especially the heart attack grill is simply putting out the wrong message, and I would be disgusted if The Heart Attack Grill “restaurant” comes to New Zealand. I agree with Saskia, if fat people see an advertisement about the place, or should I say graveyard, they will come and that is how this company will survive. There are already numerous fast food outlets that sell fatty things like Mc Donalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Fish & Chips and we don’t need another EVEN fattier burger coming into New Zealand.

The double down should have never been advertised the moment it was confirmed to come to New Zealand. Half of the TV advertisements already have fast food and their “appetising” pictures tempting us, and so more is CERTAINLY not needed. Advertising cigarettes is illegal on the TV and probably the same amount or higher of people die because of obesity and so that means that advertising high calorie foods should be too.

There is though another side to things. It is the choice of the person to enter the outlet but with The Heart Attack Grill restaurant, they are saying that if you are over 350 pounds then you can eat for free, and THAT is an advertising tool to make people, who know that it is bad to eat that type of food dine there.

The media has SO much to do with this whole drama. They dedicated more than 5 minutes on the US TV news on this heart attack grill and the quadruple bypass burger and so people who didn’t know about this could go to the restaurant. It’s free advertising, and maybe that’s why the idea is so outrages because they then attract so much attention, for free. That is the same with KFC. They probably hire the media to make a fuss about them and if they didn’t have soooo much attention, their new burger wouldn’t be such a success.

Double Down? Ok that is bad enough but i absoulutly can NOT understand how or why the 'Heart attack grill' is allowed in america.
I am positive that New Zeland has to have less fatty restraunts to ensure many more people are living longer and the toll of obiese is lowered.
As i watched the news report on the 'Heart attack grill' I was astonished that this was so popular. I think New zealand should make a change. Which will stop obiese people being tempted.

  21. i think its dumb to have such a fatty burger its not worth the mone eight dollars for a burger in your dreams plus the heart attack grill is just saying if you over 350pounds then stuff your face and get your self a heart attack i saw in the clip the poster boy died becuase he died by eating so many so pretty much its a death trap whoever eats one is going to have to do alot of exersize they say that you have to do a 1 and a half hour walk and simply its just not worth it, stick with the buns guys plus the quadruple bypass burger is going to give you a quadruple heart attack the heart attack grill should be banned shut down and forced to write an apoligy to the familys that have lost someone becuase of the fast food store and the person that was feeding them the food should be thrown in jail

and that they should not be allowed in new zealand.
and that people who eat it are stupid.
its just like saying "be over 350 pounds and you eat free" so its like people will just gain more and more weight to eat for free its like a death trap why dont they just eat lots of cheese burgers?

  26. I think that if you are over 350 pounds you should not be able to eat fatty foods at a resterant or any take aways place. But it is also your own fault if you get obesse, because no one is making you eat it, you only eat it because it tastes nice. There must be plenty of other healthier burgers out there that taste just as nice as the double down and the quadruple bypass burger. Also there should be a lower fat limit inall foods orelse every second person will be obesse.

  27. I think the double down burger needs to be taken out of nz. There needs to be a calorie limit for nz. It would decrease the amount of obecity. Some people make bad food choices for themselves so we need to stop this for them. The tv ads also need to be removed from tv. They just encourage unhealthy eating. This habit of eating can kill people!!!

  28. I think the double down burger is just a waste of money. new zealand should have a limit on how many caliories you put into meals. Every person over 350 pounds can eat for free, shouldnt we be trying to save obese ppeople not encouraging them to eat more fatty foods. They said they wanted obese people to come and when they die people should see that its unhealthy and shouldnt but in the process more people are dying and why not have a healthy restraunt there instead. So they definitely shouldnt bring the heart attack grill to new zealand

  29. I think New Zealand should not be allowed to advertise foods with such high calories because many people may find the foods appealing and addictive. People eat far too much fat already and health education is trying to teach people to stop doing this and to eat more fruit and vegetables. KFC is promoting the opposite! I think they are encouraging New Zealanders to eat non-nutritious foods that is high in fat and can lead to obesity. Obesity leads to diabetes, heart attacks and kidney failure as long as many other diseases. Obesity is a real problem in New Zealand, and in the future their will not be enough medical help to meet the need for health care to save peoples lives. Eating high fat food is really a killer!

  30. I think high calorie/fatty foods are in New Zealand already and that advertising should be
allowed. Why should KFC double down burger be any
different to advertise than all the other fast
fatty food outlets ?. They all have a right to advertise their product and pay for all promotions. At the end of the day, it is the consumers choice if they want to spend their money on this burger or any other fast food and
their choice as to how many calories they consume. We are all aware of healthy eating, diets, exercise etc, etc and it is merely something else to question. What about smoking,
alcohol, drugs and numerous other everyday things
in life that only we can control as to whether or not we indulge in ?.
We are all human and our choices in life are just that - OUR CHOICE.
Just to let you know, I have not had a KFC double down burger but that does not mean I would not try one. Nor would I turn down the
OCCASIONAL fast food option as a treat.
HEALTHY OR NON HEALTHY EATING IS YOUR CHOICE,
    YOUR OPTION, YOUR LIFE.

  31. I don’t think there should be calorie limit in New Zealand’s fast food outlets. Because people choose to eat unhealthy foods at there own risk. But I think they shouldn't be aloud to advertise fast food on TV. Only healthy fast food outlets like subway etc. This way the customers would not know what new food the fast food outlets had so they would only be able to find out unless the customers go there for a meal or snack which wouldn't be as often as when adverts are on TV. Because if you see something you like the sound of on TV you will be more likely want to buy it.

  32. i definitely think that it should be illegal to sell or advertise fatty foods because if it wasn't it would raise new zealands obesity level and obesity causes depression which leads to broken windows and violence when everyone could eat healthy and lead happy live .also on t.v you culd advertise and say that your chicken in your burger is is from free running chickens or your beef is 100% pure beef which is quite dodgy

I think it should be illegal to sell and advertise such fatty burgers because it promotes bad eating.and could lead to heart disease and it will kill people. But it doesnt really matter because it is peoples choices and if they dont eat responsibly then it their fault they get hart diseese

  34. I think it isn't up to KFC to make people buy the burgers I think that it is up to individuals to make the right choice for their health so it shouldnt matter wheather KFC or the heart attack grill advertise or not and the burgers themselves should be avalabile because diabetiacs need food with lots of protein and mimimal carbohydrates so a burger withuot buns is perfect

  35. i think that it shud be illegal to sell fatty foods becoz they are a complete waste of money and they are not healthy at all and if you are ovaa 350 pounds then you can eat for free and you cud eat wheneva you wanted and if u ate 2 much it could block your arteries. but also its up to people to make the rite choice and it is evil to let people ova 350 pounds eat 4 free coz then they will eat everyday 3 meals a day probably and then they will die like the person on heart attack grill!
