  1. I toatally support the people trying to save the Cathedral!I believe it is a symbol of our nation and deserves to be left standing!we need the moral support and it is an acient building of the ages!
my sister agrees with my point of veiw as well.
The ones trying to pull it down are without doubt ABOSLOUTLY AND COMPLETLY EVIL!

  2. I think the Cathedral should be pulled down to a certain point. They should leave something of the Cathedral standing like a waal with a stained glass window or something. You cant take away a ancient cities heart replace it with some thing new. The cathedral surived the first big one and there should be a memorial placed there as well.

  3. I think the cathedral should be pulled down because it is not safe and if there is another earthquake it is basically a death trap. Yes it does symbalize our city but we cant risk our citizens for a building. My mum and dad both agree that it should be pulled down. The cathedral square could be the new place for a memorial because as i said it symbolizes our city and where better to put a memorial than right there in the cathedral square.

  4. Im still sitting on the fence on this. I understand it may be a risk in falling down again if they rebuild it but if its demolished it would be a big loss to the people of Christchurch and New Zealand. Building a cardboard Cathedral wouldn't be very good because it would be a bit of a lousy land mark for Christchurch. I think if they are going to be rebuilt they should spend the time and money to rebuild it brick by brick.

  5. I think it should be pulled down a little bit so that its safe for people to be around it and so people can look inside. Like have some walls removed so people can see inside. Even though its a huge landmark for christchurch, it will be better still to add it to our history as a church that got pulled down with dignity, not replaced by a piece of cardboard! People would come and see it from all over the world, it would say to the tourists that we may have been broken once but we still stand strong! It doesn't seem right to have an empty square and it won't seem right having a modern, flash building as our landmark. Some who want this new cardboard triangle in our city might say that we're living in the past. But we'd say we respect it! It's a good thing to remeber!

  6. Peronally i think it sould be pulled down its just too dangeous not many people will want to go in it anyway if its left standing and the ones that do go in will be risking there lives and i think a part of it should still be left in its place or a big memorial i think we sould move on from the past it might be christchurchs landmark but its not the only one

  7. I think it should be pulled down maybe not completely but definitely most of it because it is to dangerous for people if they rebuilt it. I think they could make a much better one that was safe for everyone. Also it may remind people to much of the past it would be better if there was just a small piece left so that everyone could just move on and get on with life.

  8. I think the cathedral should be pulled down because it is unsafe.i is also very expensive to rebuild. i think they should build a more modern and safer cathedral. i think here idea of deconstructing it is a good idea beause then they are not smashing our iconic landmark. and also because they are leaving a bit of it is good because if they decide to rebuild there there is still a bit of the origianal cathedral left.

  9. To be honest with you I am really undersiding. the Earthquake has made a huge effect to our city and when the cathedral comes crashing to the ground when it gets demollished it will be like Christchurch comes crashing to the ground It is what our small city has been built around and this Knew cardboard cathedral will never be the same Iremember when I wasat Harewood Scool every year at christmas we use to put presents under that huge christmas tree. an now some of the new entrants will not have that oppertunityand it is like Christchurch is turniing into a completely recucled city look at the containermalls and now for the Whole worl to see... A cardboard cathedral!
But then again the cathedral is very un safe and after all the earthquakes you cant take any more chances and If the price is Lives against what christchurch means to every one I would rather not have lives to pay Notice how our city is spelt
CHRIST,CHURCH Im sure we will be ok without a cathedral

  10. my side is saving the cathedral!! I love the cathedral and dont want it to be taken down but i know how unsafe it is. Ok heres my real side... for now... FORGET ABOUT THE CATHEDRAL AND DEAL TO THE PEOPLE STILL GOING TO THE TOILET IN PORTALOOS OUT THE FRONT OF THIER DRIVEWAYS.After thats sorted, then we can figure out what to do with the cathedral. Also why spend millions on a TEMPORARY cathedral why not wait and then spend the money on somthing use full such as the demolition and PERMANENT rebuild of the cathedral OR the restoration of the cathedral!! People are saying "the tourists, bla bla bla, we need the tourists, bla bla. If they need tourists so bad build a New Zealand disney land not a new cathedral and besides who wants tourists buzzing around the place you pray.

  11. i agree with both sides because yes it should be pulled down because if there was another earthquake or an aftershock and making people rebuild in this dangerous spot could be dangerous because you never know if a brick or maybe the whole thing will fall down
but then having a new cathedral wouldnt have the same inpact as the old one because it is special to the city and it is the main part of the city
so i am in between both sides and i really don't mind what happens to the cathedral

  12. I think the catherdrel should be demolished because imagine if they just reapaired it and opened cathedral square up again and there was another big earthquake and the cathedral fell over again, it could serioulsy injure or may even kill some people. If they just demolished the catherdral and built a new one the new one would be earthquake proof and safer than the old one. Yea the cathedral is important to our city because it is a main part of it but seriously would you want the building that is one of the main buildings in our city unsafe and dangerous?? I wouldnt. I agree with MIkayla that they need to sort peoples houses out before they start worrying about the cathedral. So yea i rekon they should pull it down

That probably sounded stupid but oh well haha.
    IM SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I think it should be pulled down because it unsafe and if repared it could fall injuring alot of people or killing them and if build new one it will be earthquakeproof but on the other hand i understand the people that are protesting for it to be rebuilt but over all i think it should be pulled down.

  14. I am still sitting on the fence about it the reasons it should be pulled down is that is a risk to all human beings and if it is pulled down we will be able to have a brand new astonishing cathedral and the reasons why it should stay up is because its the centre of our city and it is iconic historical building.
